Who We Are &
Who are you?
The transitional character is someone who, in a single generation, changes the entire course of a lineage. This is therapy for people who want to see beyond themselves and envision a better world for everybody. This is therapy for the curse breakers.
Our founder is a Transracial Adoptee Afro-Latina Black-American Mother who has been committed to creating space for communal healing for decades as an artist, antiracist educator, and community activist. We are Decolonial Therapists, meaning we seek liberation in our practice and acknowledge the wounds that colonialism has inflicted and continues to inflict on us all. Liberation psychology is an orientation to psychology that originated in Latin America. It drew on several currents of radical and critical praxis from the continent where our founder was born in Goiânia Goiás Brazil.
As decolonial therapists we feel a responsibility to find the root causes of suffering and multi-generational trauma that impacts every crevice of our lives, let’s be real, a colonizer nation like the US. thrives on keeping its people ill, uneducated, isolated, and disconnected from the earth and each other. We continue to push for a more accessible and truly liberating therapeutic experience for all people who want to get free.
We are therapists bewildered by colleagues who continue to co-opt the language of the oppressed for profit while creating unsafe spaces for workers and the community alike. We practice Restorative Practices, which is a relational way of repairing and preventing harm. These practices arose out of a restorative justice framework and seek to hold accountable those in our field and community who do more harm than good. We do not hide. We are honest and clear. We are never neutral. We always side with the oppressed. We root our work in undoing the violence of white supremacy culture and liberation psychology. We welcome direct experience because that is the only way to grow and the only way to build a better tomorrow.
Do you know who you are? We help you reconnect with your purpose and build the courage and emotional capacity to embody the liberatory thinking that creates a just and peaceful world for all.
“Intellectualism is a common cover-up for fear of direct experience” — C.G Jung
