Hi! My name is Isabel, and I am a deep-feeling, energetic being who is also Black, Haitian-American, queer, neurodivergent, and currently able-bodied. As the child of loving immigrant parents, I continue gaining awareness of the cultural nuances surrounding healing in the world. Holding space is a powerful and loving thing that we can do for another person; folx want to be supported, not saved, heard, not told, and to feel valued. I am an open-minded being who is ever curious about my experiences and the lived experiences of others. I believe we are all worthy simply because we exist!

I am a graduate of the Counseling and Mental Health Services (M.S.Ed.) and Professional Counseling (M.Phil.Ed.) programs at the University of Pennsylvania. I also hold a BS in Education, Post-Secondary and Human Services Fields with minors in Sociology and Public Health from Syracuse University.

I aim to foster a therapeutic space that is compassionately curious and affirming as I acknowledge colonial forces such as power, race, oppression, health disparities, occupation, etc., have a tremendous impact on both individual and collective experiences. People are the experts of their unique life stories, and therapy is a space to get to know and understand themselves deeper. I invite folks to explore how experiences have impacted them and their ability to show up as themselves. I am committed to continually learning and holding space for the multitude of ways we experience the world and each other, both personally and therapeutically.

My therapeutic interests include supporting Black, Indigenous, people of color, lesbian, gay, transgender, queer/questioning, intersex, and asexual individuals. In other words, I support colonized people who are not invited to the tables they built. While my approach is flexible, I tend to draw from person-centered therapy (PCT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), narrative therapy, emotion-focused therapy (EFT), neurodivergent-affirming therapy, and feminist theory approaches. My therapeutic work is also informed by liberation psychology, somatic, abolitionist, and decolonial frameworks.

Together, we can unpack, repack, rewrite painful narratives, and explore strategies that no longer align with you. We can reflect on the intersection between your life and the world, finding ways to manage life and the systems that often seek to suppress us. The process of healing can be empowering, messy, joyous, grief-filled, disappointing, and truly liberating at any time. We can talk about, sit with, and imagine what promotes healing in your life; I would be honored to support your path.

Outside of the therapeutic space, I am usually connecting with Mother Earth in some way, moving my body, deep breathing, listening to/enjoying live music, connecting with loved ones, exploring new food spots, daydreaming, or resting.
